Talk Abstract:
Tsunami waves are infrequent but spectacularly devastating events. Tsunamis can be mathematically modelled using the so-called Shallow Water Equations, which are derived from the Navier–Stokes Equations with appropriate assumptions on the wave height, depth, and length. Numerical integration of the Shallow Water Equations can then be used to simulate tsunamis for a variety of bathymetries (shore geometries).
